The Penpal

Back
pencillamon penegranate
HB to you
pen simply won't do
and you..

scrawl like a poet
shades of ripples
splashes of a script
generation eraser tipped!

six sided
black hearted
I don't hear any music
sliding off your tip

blunt but not beaten
print me a page
play me a riff in the shade
dazzle, drip, endure

see the last note
sustain
it's a different getaway driver this time
maybe they're working shifts?

draw a line
call time
sharpen me
rub you, bond

hear the piano percussion
she steams open a letter
i'm tired of writing to HIM
well the words do just flow

I went out with him
nine and a half years ago
bewitched
resentful

largely unwritten
not that you're counting.
some stars play little guitars
get it over in morse code

nothing apparent between the lines
fixed was my fate
perils of the postbox and all that
i'm a big harmonica man myself
